01. Overview

StackShot is a native macOS application that captures and manages screenshots locally on the computer. This privacy policy explains how StackShot handles screenshot data.

StackShot does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. All screenshots and session data remain entirely on the device.

02. Local-Only Processing

StackShot operates entirely offline. Screenshots are saved as temporary PNG files in a session-specific folder on the Mac. When the session is cleared or the app is closed, these files are automatically deleted.

  • No network requests: StackShot does not communicate with any external servers.
  • No analytics or telemetry: No usage data, crash reports, or statistics are collected.
  • No cloud storage: Screenshots are never uploaded anywhere.

03. Permissions

StackShot requires the following macOS permission to function:

Screen Recording: Required by macOS for any application that captures screenshots. This permission allows StackShot to capture regions, windows, and full-screen content using the native screencapture tool and ScreenCaptureKit.

StackShot does not request any other system permissions. It does not access files, contacts, camera, microphone, or location.

04. Updates

StackShot includes update checking via Sparkle, which may contact the update server to check for new versions. This is a standard mechanism used by many macOS apps. No personal data is included in update checks.

05. Open Source

StackShot is open-source software licensed under the MIT License. The complete source code can be reviewed on GitHub to verify these privacy claims.

06. Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
